Happy Friday people! And a beautiful Friday it is! Song-of-the-weekend time. Well, I just can't seem to snap out of the 'singer-songwriter' mood this week. If you like that genre, you'll love these guys. From northern Virginia, this is Martinez & Guthrie with "I'd Say Go." ENJOY!

Hey all...it's FRIDAY! Song-of-the-weekend time. This one is for the good minister (and half decent apparel salesman) Ted Wright. Originally recorded for a Jayhawks album 'Tomorrow the Green Grass' (that I can't believe is almost 20 years old), this is a gospelly song called "Up Above My Head". It actually never made it on the album, but has just been released on a recent re-issue of the record...ENJOY!

another week gone by!....song-of-the-weekend time. Caught these guys on Austin City Limits last weekend and was really impressed. Originally from Seattle they're now based in Charleston, SC. From their third studio album (which, for better or worse is Grammy nominated), this is Band of Horses with "Older"....ENJOY!

Song-of-the-weekend time! I just bought the new album from Philly's (Cherry Hill, NJ actually) Amos Lee and it's tremendous. He has one of the most silky smooth voices ever and is such a good songwriter. I love this one! Windows Are Rolled Down....brand new! ENJOY!

Happy Friday everyone! Song-of-the-weekend time. This song about the doctor is apropos for today seeing that I'm running a fever and feeling bad all day. This is Matt Costa with "Emergency Call". Reminds me of the Grateful Dead. ENJOY!

Hi all....it's FRIDAY...time for a song-of-the-weekend selection. Personally, I'm wiped out from the redeye trip home from Vegas so we're going mellow and we're just gonna chill a bit. It's Sam (from Green Bay) and Ruby (from Ghana, Africa) making music together in Nashville, TN as Sam & Ruby. ENJOY!

I know, I know....you CAN"T believe I missed last Friday's song-of-the-weekend. What's that? You didn't notice? Oh. OK, anyway....Stumbled across this artist a couple of days ago for the first time. And I like what I hear! Wikipedia describes them as a "soul/funk/R&B/blues/southern rock band"...guess that covers that. From Jacksonville, FL this is JJ Grey & Mofro with Fireflies. ENJOY!

Happy Friday & Christmas Eve all! Strolling down memory lane and re-discovered this delicious little number from Jason & The Scorchers. From Nashville, they were blending country with rock n roll long before most. This is from way back in 1985 and it's a souped up version of Bob Dylan's "Absolutely Sweet Marie." ENJOY!

Ok everybody...Friday's song-of-the-weekend selection will be familiar to my more 'experienced' friends. This is live Indigo Girls with their version of the Gladys Knight and the Pips hit "Midnight Train to Georgia."...have a great weekend and ENJOY the music!

Happy Friday peoples! The song-of-the-weekend comes from 'down under' this time. This is Ben Lee and his song "Close I've Come." I wouldn't call this edgy, but it's about as edgy as the normally pop mellow Ben Lee gets. ENJOY!

Well it's Friday! I've been going back and forth what to put up as the song-of-the-weekend but I just keep coming back to this one. Heard this for the first time on WXPN Wednesday and I've been tapping my foot ever since. It's Philly's Free Energy with "Bang Pop"...sophomoric, perhaps a bit but just try not to nod your head along with this!
Sounds like early Weezer to me...ENJOY!
